Firstly, my gratitude on this important day is to my first Gurus mother and father for their effort to make me speak, walk and follow the culture and tradition, then elderly people and finally the teachers who taught me to read and write and compel me to follow the way of righteousness and wish once more to have such a wonderful blessing from them.
Secondly my wishing is always with my students who will know why they were born and are living in this earth and what their importance is and how they can remain happy keeping happy to others too.
The day Guru Purnima falls mostly in the month of Shrawan and it is called Ashadh Purnima too. The first guru according to Hinduism is Lord Shiva who taught the Saptarishi about Yogas. Then the rishis appeared and finally modern teacher. The word Guru itself is lovely to listen and always hurry to pour my gratitude to my teachers at various level from school to university.
It is the day on which Sage Ved Vyas was born to Satyavati and Brahmin sage Parashar on this day, he is considered one of the seven immortals who are still alive according to Hindu mythology. He also structured the Vedas and classified them into Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva It is believed that Lord Buddha gave his first sermon on this day.
It is celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Shikh and Jains too. The word Guru itself is of great importance. It means dispeller of the darkness. That means the ones who can dispel the darkness from the heart of someone is called the Guru. Here darkness means ignorance. That means dispelling the darkness from human feelings.
Finally, my gratitude to all my teachers and love and blessing to my students. May this day prove the worth of it the days ahead too having reciprocal relationship between teachers and students i.e., learners.
