Writing a paragraph, through questioning
Language learning is the process of acquiring knowledge on various matters. It can be perceived by various ways: Something we learn by observing the matter and sometimes we learn through feeling of touching something, sometimes we learn through listening and sometimes we learn through tasting the food by our tongue and sometimes we learn the matter by reading. We have to realize that listening and reading are the receptive skills of language learning whereas speaking and writing are the productive skills.
Writing always creates problems in the classroom. Students feel difficulties to write a sentence, a paragraph, an essay or a story or a play or any other types of writing. How every student feels comfort to write a paragraph. A teacher should not talk about a paragraph unless the students are familiar with letters, words, phrases, sentences and the importance of the use of punctuations. First of all, every student should know how to use a word or a phrase in sentences. Then they have to internalize that there are various types of sentences and the tense we use in different sentences might be different too. After mastering over them, ask the learners various questions related to the same topic and let them write in an exercise book.
Practise the following questions first:
i. What's the name of your school?
The name of our school is Shree Pashupati Mitra Secondary School.
ii. Where is it?
It is in ward no 7 at Chabahil of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
iii. When wan was it established?
It was established in 2004 BS.
iv. How many buildings does it have?
It has 4 buildings in total.
v. Describe the buildings in brief.
Three buildings are for academic purpose and a building is for business purpose.
vi. How many students are there at your school?
Nearly 850 students are studying at this school. Or , There are nearly 850 students at our school.
vii. What classes run every day?
It runs classes from ECD to 12 grades. From this year technical classes from 9-12 in civil engineering are going to be run.
viii. How many teachers and non-teaching staff are there?
More than 55 teachers and 4 non-teaching staffs are working here.
ix. Why is your school unique?
Due to the students from various parts, belonging to the different ethnic groups, castes and qualified teachers of various subjects and their and students' performance have made our school unique. I feel proud of being a part of it.
Now collect all sentences in order to develop it in the form of paragraph.

After collecting the sentences, ask students to read and edit the words and sentences to make it concrete. Then give the information about the paragraph. Inform the students about the topic sentence, supporting detail and concluding sentences. Inform the learners that the very beginning sentence of each paragraph is the topic sentence. Ask the learners to notice the topic sentence. Students studying in the classroom will say that the topic sentence of the above paragraph is: The name of our school is Shree Pashupati Mitra Secondary School.
Then ask them what the other supporting details are.
After they will say: The sentences that follow the topic sentences are the supporting detail.
Then ask them about the concluding sentence.
They will respond:
The very last sentence of the paragraph is the concluding sentence. The concluding sentence of this paragraph is:
I feel proud of being a part of it.
Now read the edited and revised following paragraph and realize what the paragraph is.

From this year 2079 technical classes from 9-12 in civil engineering are going to be run. The school has 55 teachers and 4 non-teaching staffs. Due to the diversity location of students, belonging to the different ethnic groups, castes and qualified teachers of various subjects and their students' performance have made it a unique school. I feel proud of being a part of this school.
Thus, every language teacher at every school can make learners feel comfort to write a paragraph or essay or a story using the easiest way to write. That means asking fragmented questions relating to a single topic help them to answer. When they answer of each question and let them write on a piece of paper. After writing them in an assembled form, it looks like a paragraph. Then, let all learners to read each sentence thoroughly and find the coherent of the sentence. If they are in the order, it's okay if not ask them to rewrite. Ask them, to change the words and transitional words which make the paragraph a concrete paragraph or more meaningful. Let each sentence hooked by the sentence that follows the earlier one and conclude the paragraph with the concluding sentence in the end. This is the best way to make a learner feel easy to develop a paragraph on a given topic. Then ask students to write a similar paragraph on about their village/town or the place they like most.
